TransportAfter the Double Dutch War, and on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, the scrambling of the United States, a lack of gasoline and kerosene as brought Dutch transport to a halt. There is no way to power normal cars and aeroplanes, motorbikes, mopeds and ships. Worse, the roads are wrecked and are no longer safe to drive over.To solve these logistic problems, the portable nuclear engine has been invented. The engine can be used on small vehicles, such as boats and tractors. Fuelled with polluted parts of the landscape, these vehicles form the main transport for goods. However, the fuel gets rare so many years after the Mokum meltdown, and the vehicles are no longer produced. Many transport takes place over the water to avoid the horrible roads. Ships and boats of all kind can be seen chopping the burning waves of the Dutch water. The hulk has a special coating to prevent the ships from burning. Basic means of transport is the bicycle. The bicycle has been declared a free species, and lives in herds in the Dutch cities. Travellers can take a bike whenever they want to, but chaining a bike and this restricting its freedom is not allowed. Many bikes are in bad condition. Rust is a fast spreading virus and the rubber tires are no longer on sale - many bikes have make-shift tires made out of cloth or wood. The Eternal Traffic Jam: The terror that came with the Great Flood made many inhabitants fled their houses in utmost fear. They took their cars, caravans and mobile homes to find higher ground, but in the traffic jam that was caused by this mass panic, almost every car was stopped. The water that came rising and flowing into the land made many car into a rusty bulk that could move no more even if the traffic jam hadnt happened. Lots of people drowned in the Eternal Traffic Jam, but others came to the endless rows of cars and settled in it. This way, A2-City came to existence on the A2 Motorway. It is now a vivid place, that blocks all possible traffic. Highways: In order to have some transport to other countries, the Dutch Government had decided to build some highways. These roads are build upon dikes, so the flood does not influence them. And they run over bridges wherever they cross the canals or the Eternal Traffic Jam. The Highways are used by nuclear powered aeroplanes. |
