Once, there was a community on the internet that made a contest of drawing your own horoscope. They had no clue about the difference between horoscopes and the zodiac, so I mixed the two up a bit in the collage shown above.
The very idea is, that I am Scorpio. That is usually seen as related to kinky sex and ultra-violence; which was the original title of it (“Kinky sex & ultra-violence”). I might have called it Horrorscope as well; reigned by Mars, the War God, and Pluto, God of the Underworld, Scorpio is set in a blood red horrific setting.
The planet at the right top is Mars. The text in the left are some personality marks of the average Scorpio (in Dutch). There are two scorpions in the picture, because in my horoscope, my ascendant is also Scorpio. The skull with the green eyes stands for envy.
I am very proud of the sand glass. Based on an existing picture, I placed the woman in it, for the kinky sex part of the horoscope. The blood, representing life, is sipping away like sand in the sand glass. I thought the sand glass was necessary, because “horo” stands for hour; a horoscope is the hour of birth and the future that is seen in the stars at that very moment.
I know I’ve take some random pictures from the internet (Google image finder) and such (the skulls, the scorpions, the original hourglass, the Scorpio-sign, the Carceri from Piranesi in the background, the picture of the planet), but I’m very proud of the resulting composition and the dramatic colours. In my opinion, I’ve changed the existing pictures enough and, more, made them into a new piece of art. I used no pieces of art by still living others.

AFAIK the picture ended low in the competition because it was too controversial and people were strongly advised not to vote for it.
