Igmirica What the siwagats decided, was to build another city, right in the desert of Rahuk. It should be seen from far away, so they planned, and had to be so beautiful it would distract the attention from Urarag. It would be no use building a real city in the desert; if it would be visible it was easy to tell it was a forgery, and if it was far enough to hide its true nature, it would be almost on the horizon and most of the time covered up in dust. Instead, they build a miniature city, not very far away from both the streams. Travellers on the streams -the only secure route in that part of the realm - would see the city clearly, with many details. However, they would think the city was further away and wouldnt notice there was no real life in it. Some machines, based on the power of wind and water, would make some movement in the city. The appearance of this city - in fact only a facade- was one of great splendour. Gold topped turrets and a fine touch of architecture would draw any ones attention to it - and away from the dull, camouflaged view Urarag. This distraction worked out fine, but two centuries ago, the Lubanians forgot there was a danger from the north. They forgot to maintain the fake city, which led to its downfall and decay. It was not all forgotten; strangers can tell stories about a golden city in Rahuk, inhabited by some kind of inter-dimensional dwarfs. They have seen the ruins of the facades, with the remains of the gold-paint still on it, and the small windows and doors in the walls, and think this city was once inhabited by a small species that went through the doors into another dimension. Some scientists have suggested the spot might have been a portal once, and that the people who have used it have disappeared. The existence of this city might have been one of the reasons to believe in the hovering cities of Wythviz. Related topics: |
