Literature

Literature is part of daily life in Daleth. Poets and writers of all sorts make money by their art and selling it to both the elite as the common people. Illiteracy is uncommon in Daleth so everybody can enjoy a good book.
The writers are bound in guilds, and the guilds work as publishers. There is a small free market for literature, but most people will buy the nicely decorated and good bound books from the Guilds. Each Guild has a specific section of the market -there are love poetry Guilds, strange stories Guilds, religious stories Guilds, and so on. By buying a book from a certain Guild, you will know what you will be reading.

The most popular books in Daleth are all kind of romantic poetry, tales of the ideal daily life (known as "Domestics"), travel journals (from the World Wanderer Guild) and the novels of the bizarre ("Bizarrities").

Libraries

Every palace has a library. Many houses have a library, but then on smaller scale. Those who can not afford a library can use the libraries of schools and universities. Some palaces have opened their libraries to the common people.
The libraries have books of wisdom and knowledge in them, but a great deal of the books are plain fiction for entertainment. If one has read a book and doesn't want it anymore, the book can be sold at one of the book markets that are held almost every twozmenoth in the cities. Some traders sell and buy books in rural areas. Second hand books are rather normal, only the rich will keep every book they buy, and they only buy new books.
Books are generally speaking not expensive, but some books are rare and worth a lot.
