OpenOffice.org quit unexpectedly

Tuesday 19 May 2009 02:06

No it didn't. I totally expected OpenOffice.org to croak on opening the document it just recovered after croaking on it the first time. I guess OpenOffice.org is popular because a lot of users are afraid of using a basic text editor, but basically don't do anything fancy that would require a complete office suite. So just typing some text works in OpenOffice.org, but if I try to do fancy stuff I used to do with Word 6 or Quattro Pro 5 it fails. I can't believe OpenOffice.org is such a piece of shit it is probably helping Microsoft to firmly stay in business, or at least make web-based alternatives look fast and stable compared to OpenOffice.org. Or make me virtualize a Windows 3.11 and just use Word 6 and Quattro Pro 5, because OpenOffice.org is unusable and it doesn't look like it's improving.
