First Flash

Saturday 9 July 2005 16:45

I'm still pulling 20G in the learing curve, but one of the Flash projects I was allowed to touch has been released. It's the Ambi Pur Welcome site, for which I added the Cristina Sala related items for the dutch section.

Having never worked with an IDE before, the Flash MX 2004 Professional IDE really pisses me off. It's unstable, has BAD focussing and can't do I lot of things I want to do (like show the action panes of more items at the same time, open more than one project, DWIM, etc.) . I expected such a successful product that has been around for quite some time to be more mature, but apparently this is what Macromedia can get away with with their lock-in strategy (and probably a lot of users who have never experienced anything better).

re: First Flash

I agree! I made my first flash page (a members.xoom thing) with flash 1 or 2. All u could do was moving objects around, nothing real flashy ^^. For this, the interface was perfect. Nowadays I think u should be able to control your flash objects using Perl ;).

re: First Flash

What you could do with Flash 1 or 2 can now be done with Ming (http://todbot.com/ming/), using a Perl API. In Flash MX 2004 Professional you can make your timeline with named frames looks like an Excel sheet, just to set up some object to be referenced by name...

Peace.
