Wheelman demo

Sunday 17 May 2009 00:18

This isn't about Jonathan Ross and Amanda Lear, it's about Vin Diesel and Antoni Gaudí. While it's nice to see something else than American cities in a game, the big difference is that in Wheelman Barcelona looks like a racetrack with cardboard buildings on the sides, while GTA IV manages to capture the vibe of NYC. Having played a lot of GTA IV Mafiya Work, I can't not compare Wheelman to that. And then GTA IV is better. You don't need vehicle melee when physics and the map details can provide you with spectacular car interaction without it. Just hit a curb in Liberty City going flat out and you know what I mean. And obviously I was trying to avoid hitting small trees and bus stop shelters in Barcelona because that's what I'm used to in Liberty City, but you don't need to do that because in Barcelona stuff's a bit more brittle. And then the tricks to get some cool shots that aren't cool anymore because of the tricks. And AirJack? Is this Wolverine or something? There will be some audience wanting this, but I rather get cool stuff the hard way and be surprised by it once in a while. If I want easy I can go watch a movie holding a SIXAXIS. Or even something with Vin Diesel if that's the point.
