In the be­gin­ning of july I was about one week camp­ing in Wales. I planned to go one week ear­li­er, but that mon­day was the day with the most rain in Wales with flood­ing and stuff. So I wait­ed a bit and then booked a flight with KLM to Cardiff, and then went by train to Llan­dovery. Am­s­ter­dam - Cardiff is not a flight to Cardiff, it's the re­turn flight for Welsh­men who vis­it­ed Am­s­ter­dam, but very con­ve­nient to get to Wales with­out the has­sle of the Eurostar and the tube in Lon­don. Since the weath­er wasn't as hot as last time (i.e. rain­ing) I man­aged to cov­er a lot more ground and even made it to the top of the Black Moun­tain. I also vis­it­ed Bre­con and the canal. A neg­a­tive thing was that the al­most last night one of the alu rods that holds up my tent snapped in the wind and af­ter a quick re­pair I de­cid­ed to head in the di­rec­tion of Cardiff one day ear­li­er. Which was prob­a­bly a good de­ci­sion be­cause the heavy wind also blew a tree on the rail­road tracks so if I had had that 45 minute de­lay a day lat­er I would have missed my flight. But a night in Cardiff isn't bad. Cardiff Bay is cool, and spend­ing the next morn­ing in the Bute park just out­side the Hol­i­day Inn ho­tel is per­fect. Too bad Shake­speare in the Cas­tle was sold out.
