Aachen - Vaals

Tuesday 14 March 2006 21:50

Last sunday I went down South again, but due to maintenance on the railroad between Utrecht and 's-Hertogenbosch the schedule was a bit off and I had the opportunity to take the Euregion-Bahn from Heerlen to Aachen, which was a better connection to the Vaals area. The wetter was good, the scenery also and I made it to the threecountryspot by walking in Germany Westward to the German-Belgian border and then follow that North towards The Netherlands. It's a nice neck of the woods, also for mountain-biking, and I'm always surprised by how much German railways look like their scaled down HO version, just like US cities on Google Earth look exactly like SimCity 2000.
