At the end of the year I al­ways do a hard­ware check to see if all the old junk has sur­vived an­oth­er year: DDS-3 tape back­ups still func­tion­al, Jaz dri­ve still OK (ex­per­i­ment­ing with en­crypt­ed disks in those), found out I have 3 NICs in 1 serv­er for some rea­son, and my Am­bra Sprinta 486 is also still us­able. Com­bined the 486 with Aban­do­nia.com and I spend some days with Flash­back, Prince of Per­sia and Dune, which brought back some mem­o­ries. It's a bit awk­ward to play those low-res games on a 19" screen but they still work. And they are an­oth­er rea­son for me to con­sid­er not to buy a Wii, PS3 or Gam­ing-PC, or is a quad-core MacPro with 3TB disk­space more fun than some­thing like Rail­road Ty­coon?
