Dull Little Tasks?

Sunday 15 January 2006 20:30

I've been using Intel processors since when Apple was still shipping their hardware with Motorolas and now Apple is telling me those Intel processors have done nothing more than dull little tasks in dull little boxes? Can't Jobs just Skype Dell to pick a fight, instead of pissing off millions of case-modders, hard-core PC-gamers, linux hackers and other people that really think different? And just might be using a Mac next to their Intel based system? GFY Steve...

re: Dull Little Tasks?

Well i've been using a lot of different system, Mac Os 7 till X, Windows 3.11 to XP including the NT family, Beos, and some linux/Unix systems (including redhat, suse, irix, mandrake, FreeBSD) and NONE of them have given me "the power of unix" with a graphical user interface that looks good and does what I want it to do, OS X does and with the easiest OS install ever, even an unborn child can install Mac Os X.
(small note OS X has it's flaw but the others have (much)more )

In Short:
I hate spending days learning how to use an operating system, I hate searching for settings, I hate rebooting, I hate editting plain text config files, I hate MS softwarem, I hate ugly and not working GUI's, I hate GIMP's GUI. I hate a X number of CD's / DVD's in a package with software that is outdated or that i'll never use in my entire life !
I hate installing, I hate compiling.
I hate software in general, and I think 90% of the software engineers and programmers think like this
"How can i make this piece of software in notime at all, with the least amount of effort, and cash-in, and damn I can even earn more if I drop the (interaction-)designer and do it myself"

And I think if all those linux hackers start working on my hate list and user-experience and doing things different (in ease of use and graphically), they'll be working on a system that has the potential of becomming much better and superior to windows or even Mac OS X.

Steve is right his OS and software is the best for now, and if any case-modders, hard-core PC-gamers, linux hackers or someone else is offended, think different , and create something that is even better and for free.

re: Dull Little Tasks?

Even if OS X is the best OS around, Apple shouldn't dis the work of others based only on what brand of processors they used, especially when Apple chooses to rely on that work. An open source OS won't be "better" than Apple's because open source allows Apple to use the Good Things from it in their products. That's because open source is about improving the world and Apple is only about improving dull little shareholder value, and a lot of marketing crap to do that and pretend it's anything different than Microsoft, Dell, Sony, etc.
