Ashes to ashes, back to Dust

With the second coming of Half-Life, I dug up the old CDs of the Game of the Year Edition of Half-Life to play around during the seasonal lame days. After installing the stuff from CD and then trying to upgrade I found out using the new Steam system I could download the latest updates of the games I purchased years ago. Managed to get the whole thing going, including running a Dedicated Server on my Linux box. Nostalgia from the days I played in [NQFF], once even for 16 hours straight, after a regular day in the FF office. After which I strafed back home through Rotterdam (IRL, not the map rotterdam).
But my current paranoid firewall, NAT and other network configurations the regular gamer doesn't have, somehow keep me from playing online. But on the other hand, it doesn't keep me up all night...

But this Gunfire Critique <http://www.summerblue.net/games/cs_report/4_2_gunfire_critique.html> sheads some light on how it's possible to kick ass firing an SMG jumping around a corner. ("The consequence of this behaviour is that all weapons, after their first few accurate shots, are like shotguns"). The boomstick is the real deal ;-)
