Die Vorleser ============ Saturday 11 July 2009 22:25 (I love posting stuff with a title that starts with "Die") But Die Vorleser is not that bad. Ijoma Mangold is no Tom Paulin and Amelie Fried is no Allison Pearson. But the issue I have with such a show is that it caters for a niche, and tends to get elitist. I don't mind people talking about books like they are important (the books), but it shouldn't look like every book is more important than any movie, game, music video and every other piece of media that is out there. There is still adhered to this mythical image of a lone artist who struggles with blank paper in a typewriter in some attic with plenty of alcohol to write a book, trying to making that product appear less fake than the multi-million dollar releases in the game- and movie industry. If we'd care about struggling artists we would only need to read livejournal and watch youtube. If it's about storytelling things get more interesting. by Roland van Ipenburg http://www.xs4all.nl/~ipenburg/blog/posts/dull/2009/07/11/die-vorleser/
