Weekend Without A Kernel Patch

And the weather wasn't that brilliant, so what to do? It all started when I got a Big Disk, which gave me enough space to sort out collections of images and music. But then we need some system, and most of the prefabricated ones ended in lack of trust that the system gave good enough quality or flexibility. But now I feel confident that ripping with a Plextor drive, using cdparanoia, using YAML config files and then encoding to ogg will yield acceptable results. I set up my own system consisting of perl and bash scripts so whenever I want to change something to the output I can just run the whole batch on all the wavs and just wait for it to finish. Eventually the whole collection is rsynced to a playable directory. Along the way I updated my Perl to 5.8.7 by compiling from source, learned to use YAML, really started to like the find -exec construction and listened to great music. The only thing left is running vorbisgain on the whole collection.
